A group of CID summer school students on a field trip

CID summer school students go on fun and educational afternoon field trips in the St. Louis community and surrounding areas in Missouri and Illinois.

Summer School

CID's five-week summer school for children who are deaf and hard of hearing 3-12 years of age will be open to non-CID students again in 2010 with scholarship aid available.

The program will start in mid-June and will feature morning classes in speech, language, listening and emerging literacy for the 3- to 5-year-olds. The older children will receive academic instruction in reading, literature, science and social studies with emphases on their speech, language and listening skills.

In the afternoons, all of the children will participate in more relaxed, summer camp activities. Learning is theme-based in the morning while the afternoon is filled with summer camp activities designed to provide less formal structure in a language rich environment. All activities will be supervised by expert educators of the deaf using listening and spoken language.

In the afternoons, children 3-5 will participate in fun summer camp activities on-site in a colorful, child-friendly environment designed to meet their needs. Children 5-12 will go on off-site field trips to St. Louis attractions. Destinations include the City Museum, the St. Louis Science Center, the Magic House and the St. Louis Zoo.

Limited enrollment will be available for students who qualify. Please contact Michelle Gremp mgremp@cid.edu 314.977.0130.
