Meet our Family Center Coordinator
Christine Clark, MAEd, CED
Welcome to the Joanne Parrish Knight Family Center
Having a child with a hearing impairment can be heartbreaking and confusing. At the CID Joanne Parrish Knight Family Center, we’re here to help you during this very overwhelming time. Our caring, experienced counselors will walk you, step by step, through the process of getting crucial information and services.
Our teachers, speech therapists, audiologists and parent educators are all credentialed providers for First Steps in Missouri and Child and Family Connections in Illinois, for families and their children birth–3. We will help you navigate the early intervention system so your family can begin receiving services as soon as possible.
Our expert pediatric audiologists will work closely with you to ensure that your child receives appropriate amplification as soon as possible. We provide loaner hearing aids if needed. In individual sessions, we will help you understand how the hearing aids work, how to keep them on and how to help your child begin to develop listening skills.
Our goal is to develop listening and oral communication so you and your baby can interact with each other as naturally as possible. We offer flexible scheduling at CID as well as home visits, informative parent support group meetings and a nursery class when your child turns 2.
Every day is precious learning time for a baby with a hearing impairment, so please call me to talk about your child or use the QUICK HELP link and we will contact you. I invite you to visit CID and meet our staff and families and see for yourself that developing spoken language is both possible and rewarding.
