Hearing-impaired student and classroom observers

CID's mission is to teach deaf and hard of hearing children to listen, talk, read and succeed. We partner with families and collaborate with universities, educators and other professionals worldwide to help children communicate to achieve to their fullest potential.

Consultation and Training

With early identification laws and the widespread use of digital hearing aids and cochlear implants, more deaf children are learning to listen and to talk. This doesn’t happen automatically. It requires specialized educational techniques proven to help deaf and hard of hearing children use listening and spoken language to succeed in mainstream educational settings.

CID - Central Institute for the Deaf in St. Louis, Missouri offers consultation and in-service training services to help public and private schools and school districts who are beginning or improving listening and spoken language educational programs for children who are deaf and hard of hearing, birth through age 12.

We can put together a custom-designed deaf education support package including guided classroom observations at CID, administrative consultations (in person or via Skype) tailored to meet your needs. We also offer an array of continuing education opportunities, in-service training, curricula, guides, tests and other educational tools. Our goal is to help teachers and school administrative staff members develop an effective program to meet the needs of children who are deaf and hard of hearing and their families.
