CID MODESE Early Intervention Seminar
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education provides scholarships for qualified applicants for this CID seminar. Enrollment is limited. Priority will be given to applicants from diverse geographical areas within Missouri, applicants who apply by the specified dates and enrolled Missouri First Steps providers.
EARLY INTERVENTION: CASE-BASED LEARNING SEMINAR - June 7, 2010
This interactive seminar will explore problem-solving strategies for speech-language pathologists, special instructors, deaf educators and other early intervention providers who serve families of children who are deaf and hard of hearing. Case studies will be used to create dialogue and develop strategies regarding topics such as: coaching families, teaming with providers from other disciplines, current assistive technology, assessing communication development and finding appropriate resources.Participants will be able to assess family needs and develop strategies to ensure positive outcomes, identify challenges to family and caregiver buy-in, use assessment tools specific to children who are deaf and hard of hearing, troubleshoot assistive devices and identify public and private sector resources that support families and providers. Includes a 90-minute follow-up teleconference to promote the use and integration of skills.
