NORMAN J. STUPP FOUNDATION SUPPORTS
ST. LOUIS DEAF STUDENTS

ST. LOUIS, Missouri, August 2005 – Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) has received a $5,000 grant from the Norman J. Stupp Foundation – Commerce Bank Trustee to provide educational support for deaf and hearing-impaired students learning to listen and talk at CID.

In July, Jack Schrieber, president of Commerce Bank, and Joelle Taylor, assistant vice president of charitable contributions for the Norman J. Stupp Foundation, visited some of the children in their summer school classrooms and presented the check to CID executive director Robin Feder, MS, CFRE, who accepted it on their behalf.

"Many of our families are of modest means," Feder said. "They work  hard and often sacrifice to give their deaf and hard-of-hearing children the opportunity to reach their full potentials. This grant will provide families financial assistance they need to help their children learn to listen and speak, read and succeed in the mainstream.

"We are all very grateful to the Norman J. Stupp Foundation and Commerce Bank."

Since its inception in 1952, following the interests of two vitally engaged community philanthropists, Norman Jacob Stupp and his wife Marie, the Foundation has maintained a strong investment in institutions and programs that benefit the lives of St. Louisans. The Norman J. Stupp Foundation is dedicated to continuing the Stupps' lifelong interests in education, medical research, human services, youth services, programs of civic importance and engineering and technology. Commerce Bank serves as the trustee for the Norman J. Stupp Foundation.
