Consultation and Training

With early identification laws and the widespread use of digital hearing aids and cochlear implants, more deaf children are learning to listen and to talk. This doesn’t happen automatically; it requires specialized educational techniques proven to help deaf and hard of hearing children succeed in mainstream educational settings.

Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) in St. Louis, Missouri offers consultation and in-service training services to meet the needs of public and private schools and school districts beginning or improving auditory-oral education programs for children who are deaf and hard of hearing, birth through age 12.

We can put together a custom-designed auditory-oral deaf education support package including CID classroom observations, administrative consultations, continuing education opportunities, in-service training, curricula, guides, tests and other educational tools. Our goal is to help your teachers and school administrative staff members develop an effective program to meet the needs of children with hearing impairment and their families.
